The New Art Center is housed in a fun and quirky historic church with four spaces available for event rentals. We have a very active class, event and exhibition schedule so when scheduling events it is important to contact us as far in advance as possible.
There are are two small studios perfect for informal meetings, children's birthday parties and other casual gatherings for up to 12 or 20 people.
Our large main visual art studio (ELVAS) can hold up to 100 people for large meetings, private art making gatherings, adult art parties, fundraisers, small concerts and more! There is a small stage in the front of the room and four movable walls that cannot leave the room.
Our main gallery can hold up to 125 people for more formal events and meetings. With beautiful, historic stained glass windows it is a unique space that can make your event memorable for guests. We host up to eight exhibitions throughout the year so scheduling events in this space is challenging. We do however often host school fundraisers and other gatherings during exhibitions to provide completely one of a kind experiences for your guests.
Some basic information to know about renting our spaces:
-Rates vary depending on type of event, space or spaces being used, date and time and staff time or assistance needed. All rental contracts, fees and arrangements are made on a case by case basis.
-We are an active art school meaning our studios are creative spaces that often reflect the work being done everyday by artists of all ages. We are proud that you can never fully hide the art school appearance of our building.
-We have many chairs and tables available for rentals depending on our class schedule. They also have an art school appearance but can be included in the rental agreements.
-Any large events involving alcohol, music or live entertainment must obtain a permit from the City of Newton at least one month in advance of the event per city regulations. More information can be found here.
-The New Art Center is in a densely populated residential area and we take our neighbors into consideration when renting our space. We limit the amount of events per year we host with live or recorded music past 10:00pm.
