Glass Fusing

Presented By: Michel L’Huillier

Through the study of a wide range of fused pieces, students will learn about different glass firings. Students will experiment with colored glass pieces, glass powders, and glass frits to create a plate available to pick up within one week. No previous glass experience is necessary. Mastering Matisse: Explorations in Color, Form and Invention

Presented By: Carol Blackwell

Who doesn't love Matisse, his colors, compositions, cut-outs?! The energy and vigor of his work, from the Matisse Chapel to the beautiful SNAIL, composed of colored paper squares, will be the underpinning of this workshop. Develop new work influenced by the study of Matisse's use of intense color, line, pattern, and shape, using a viariety of materials, not all of which were available to the master. Drawing Your Family Genogram (Adults and Teens)

Inspired by Mayo's "Genogram" series on view in the Holzwasser Gallery, participans are guided ghrough the process of creating their own family genogram. Genograms are pictorial family trees used in medicine, psychiatry, and social work, which, through a system of marks and symbols, illustrate hereditary patterns and provide insightinto the character of individual relationships. Each genogram has its own pattern built upon the deepest and most basic human relationships. For Adults and Teens (Grades 7-12)

Painting Still Life with Confidence (March)

In this three part workshop (oil or acrylic), learn to work with confidence using various starting approaches (blockin-ins) to achieve a successful still life. Study value,shapes, color temperatures, edges,and design. Learn how to set up a still life; improve your paint application; mixing various harmonious colors; and refine your brush strokes. Portrait Drawing 101

Explore, learn, and have fun in this laid back, step-by-step portrait drawing workshop. No experience necessary. Bring a photograph, (color or black and white) and use vine charcoal to draw the basic proportions of the face, neck and shoulders. Glass Mosaic

Presented By: Michel L’Huillier

Learn the basics of the mosaic process, which incorporates pieces of glass or ceramic with grout to fit a square or rectangular substrate. Choose your glass from a wide selection of precut pieces and glue these pieces on the base. Michel will grout the panels and bring them back to the NAC within a week. Materials provided.
