[The New Art Center] provides a unique first-rate learning opportunity for children to discover contemporary art. The [students are] engaged in thought-provoking questions and activities geared to their level. The "Connections Gallery Learning Guide" is a well-written and organized educational resource for helping teachers develop critical thinking skills in students."
- Massachusetts Cultural Council panel comments
Connections is designed to help students see, understand and think about art, and apply what they have learned to diverse areas of education.
The resources of the New Art Center provide a rich educational setting for the exploration of visual concepts and art techniques. Art educators from the Center work in collaboration with teachers to develop classroom and gallery workshops, and engage students through in-depth discussion and innovative art making. The workshops are age appropriate, cross-disciplinary, and connected to subjects and themes addressed in the classroom. Students participate in learning experiences which deepen their understanding of contemporary art, visual literacy, classroom studies, and life issues. Educators with special needs and interests for their students are welcome to request workshops.
